we're about to set off on a grand adventure to fall creek falls state park in eastern tennessee. 6 of us--me & benjamin, jeanette/mirian, mom, dad and andy (whew!) wish us luck, especially on the car ride up and back.
last night we went to my uncle's house to hang out with my mom's family (dad's is in PA). that went relatively well--they all gushed about my haircut and law school admission (in that order). gotta love 'em :) some of them talked to jeanette, and katie told me that she "loves" benjamin <3 it was an interesting family mix...
waiting is so anticlimactic... we are now waiting for my uncle to pick up grandmommy so she can spend the next few days with them. she's been at our house for the past two days, and i've mostly been sleeping a lot to catch up, so i haven't spend as much time with her as I would have liked. we should be playing a game, having fun with her before she has to leave! ah well.
i did get up relatively early this morning to learn some family history:
--2 of my great-great-grandmothers' names were annie mae and sally melinda: my grandmother's name is sara ann, and she gave my mom melinda, so I have mae left to use... I like the name Mae
--one of my great-great-grandfathers was about 8 when sherman came through atlanta and chased the yankees out of his yard after they had stolen meat out of the smokehouse and slashed the furniture with their swords
